Our group is responsible for all aspects of image analysis in this large multi-site neuroimaging study investigating the effects of two different treatment protocols on a population of 630 diabetic patients. The focus of this ACCORD substudy is the measurement of patterns of brain atrophy and vascular lesion distribution in patients participating in the two treatment arms, and the identification of disease-modifying factors that affect brain structure. The figure below shows the spatial distribution of brain lesions registered with a stereotactic brain atlas.
